LEPTOTYPHLOPIDAE
SLEPANOVITÍ
Zástupci této čeledi jsou malí a štíhlí s lesklými šupinami. Všichni mají zuby jen v dolní čelisti a horní čelist je tuhá. Slepanovití mají dobře vyvinutý pánevní pletenec a někteří druhy mají zachovalé rudimentální končetiny. Nemají levou plíci a samice nemají levý vejcovod. Oči jsou malé a jsou kryté šupinami. Žijí pod zemí (podzemní hadi), kde se živí termity a jejich larvami. Mají malou tlamu. Některé druhy produkují feremony, které je chrání před termity. Zdá se že kladou vajíčka, ačkoliv u mnoha druhů rozmnožování neni známo. Tato čeleď se vyskytuje prakticky ve všech částech světa, kde žijí termiti.
